The one hour film follows the story of Stephen Hopkins, the only passenger who had been to North America previously. A decade earlier, he was aboard a Jamestown-bound ship that wrecked on Bermuda and inspired Shakespeare’s final play, The Tempest.
Shot on location in England, Bermuda, Virginia and New England, the production will first broadcast on public media and is scheduled for showings in January, including Pilgrim Memorial Hall in Plymouth, the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster, and the Folger Shakespeare Library in DC. Presented for the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower voyage, public interest in all aspects of the story 2020 will be at an all-time high.
This program is co-sponsored by the Eastham Historical society and the Eastham 400 Commemorative Committee
